Linux Art - Wacom Movink vs Framework 12

Inking comparison on Linux Krita

In my attempt to see if moving away from monopolists as an artist is possible, I’m inking a panel of my comic on a linux laptop running Krita. The Framework 12 laptop with a stylus has a touch screen you can draw on or you can plug in a wacom and draw on that. I did both and talked through my experience.

Krita on the framework 12 drawing laptop! Today I’m inking a panel of my comic and testing to see if the framework stylus 2 holds up against the Wacom Movink running Krita on Linux. This series is to test whether an artist can switch to a Ubuntu Linux environment on a framework computer. Penciling, inking, and coloring comics are typically done on Adobe illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, clip studio paint, procreate, etc.… But I’m going to check to see if it can be done in a Linux environment. I’ll be using Krita in place of Photoshop to ink a panel of my comic, “Rage of Enlightenment” and I’ll be testing drawing on the actual framework 12 laptop screen with their stylus versus plugging a Wacom movink into the framework laptop.

A nice thing about Linux is that the Wacom drivers come standard so that all Wacom products are plug and play. Frame worker building computers that are future proof… they’re like the anti-planned-obsolescence company because everything from the monitor, keyboard, case, motherboard, chip set, can be easily swapped out for new parts as needed with a single screwdriver.

No more need to throw away working parts of your computer when you upgrade. And they’re built for Linux (and Windows if you want to pay for that OS). Read my comic at https://corykerr.com/comic
